Doctoral assistant
A.Vahid Movahedi-Rad is currently in last two months of his PhD under supervision of Dr. Anastasios Vassilopoulos and Prof. Dr. Thomas Keller in Composite Construction Laboratory (CCLAB) at EPFL in Switzerland. He takes a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses polymer-based composite and metallic materials. During his PhD project, he has investigated the effect of loading pattern on fatigue behaviour and damage mechanism of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in order to determine more credible fatigue design allowables. In addition, he had more than 4 years of professional experience in characterization, mechanics, and failure analysis of metallic materials. His works have been published in several scientific and industrial journals, e.g., International Journal of Fatigue, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Journal of Materials Research and Engineering Failure Analysis, and presented in international conferences, e.g., ECCM and ICEM.
