Turkish composite industry, which is comprised of 180 medium- and large-sized companies, some 700-800 companies, which are partially engaged in the composite business, and roughly 8200 employees, produces products with high added-value.
The value of Turkish composite market has currently reached EUR 1.5 billion, while the volume reached 280,000 tons. The composite industry in Turkey grows by way of gaining share from the replacement materials as it does in the rest of the world.
In terms of volume; composite products are most commonly used in the transportation-automotive (29%), pipe-tank-infrastructure (25%), and construction-building (23%) industries in Turkey. The acceleration of the production in Turkey of high-tech products is expected to increase the amount and the percentage of composite materials used in particularly wind power, aerospace and aviation as well as electrical and electronic goods industries.
Also, the other composite applications with high growth potential include carbon fiber applications, pipe applications, automotive and transportation, solar panels, construction reinforcements, Polypropylene Random Co-polymer (PPRC) heating pipes (combi boiler), engineering plastics and maritime applications.
