Fire Performance and Flame Retardancy of 3D Printed Plastics

The development of 3D printed parts of complex polymer compositions is a current challenge regarding high levels of performances for various functional properties. For transportation or electrotechnical applications, flame retardancy is needed with the aim to achieve similar results to fire tests as materials obtained via usual processing techniques. The objective of this conference is to present the problematics arising from the use of flame-retardant systems in fused filament fabrication and selective laser sintering and to identify some criteria allowing to use relevant flame-retardant systems for these 3D printing techniques.
