Composite manufacturers are facing increasing pressure to improve operational efficiency, identify savings opportunities and reduce their ecological footprint, without compromising material performance. The implementation of an ultraviolet (UV) curing manufacturing process is proving to be an effective step towards this goal. Before considering such process improvements, manufacturers and OEMs should be aware of the benefits and boundaries of the current state of the art in UV curing technology. Our presentation will start with a brief introduction on UV curing technology, before delving into its advantages and limitations, touching upon UV-curable pultrusion and filament winding processes and finally explaining how one can implement such a process in order to achieve the best results.
