avatar for Amaël COHADES

Postdoctoral Researcher
Amaël started his engineering studies in 2007 at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland in Materials Science and Engineering. His fields of courses were focused on processing, properties, structure and application of materials. After a master thesis at the University of Auckland in New-Zealand on liquid composite moulding of nanofibre enhanced textile reinforcements, he obtained his master degree from EPFL in 2012. Amaël started his PhD on self-healing composites in 2014 in the Laboratory for processing of advanced composites (LPAC) at EPFL. He participated to the contest Ma thèse en 180 secondes and reached the international final. He earned his PhD in 2018 and is now implementing his research to the industry with a project called CompPair (Healable Composite Technologies). With this technology, damage events in structural composites can be repaired easily and at minor cost, while keeping mechanical performances and manufacturing routes comparable to commercial composites.
